Nero and Roxio have both just launched new versions of their burning software. In the red corner, we’ve got Nero 9, which features Gracenote integration and improved playback and editing features, and in the… er… orange corner we’ve got Roxio Creator 2009, which has high-definition support and new backup software…

YouTube Video of the Week: Musical Road

youtubevideooftheday.jpg

This is a musical road. It’s near Lancaster, California, and was built for an advert. When you drive over the tarmac, it creates harmonics that play a tune. Obviously the faster you drive over it, the faster the song will be. Interesting to see the Doppler effect come into play, though, when other cars drive by.

Oh, and while we’re talking YouTube videos, Shiny Shiny have a brilliant XKCD comic this morning.

Shiny Video Review: Sony Ericsson W980i

In the above video, Lucy gets her hands on the rather-pretty Sony Ericsson W980i. It’s got decent music specs, decent camera specs and a nice interface. It doesn’t, of course, have a 3.5″ jack, because Sony want you to buy their expensive headphones, but it does come with a big-ass speaker on it – perfect for annoying otherwise-pleasant people on the bus.

The Sony Ericsson W980i is out now, and price will depend on contract.

Watch the video above. That means there’s now two TouchSmart models available – the whopping 25.5″ beast in the video, and a smaller 22″ panel. Both are all-in-one units…

The sensational return of Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. Episode 2: Not connecting with real people

The double act no one really wants to see the return of has returned, as the two extremely rich men try to act like they’re normal and in touch with us common folk. All in the name of making Windows Vista look cool. It is not working. It didn’t work before. And this one’s even worse.

See Bill and Jerry order Chinese food, as if they don’t have in-house chefs back home at their respective palaces cooking up high-nutrient, low-fat foods at any time of day. They joke about being rich. This all goes on for a completely bewildering four and a half minutes. Here. See how far you can get through it.

Bill does a bit of robot dancing at the end…
