Mobile Phone for a fiver? The Samsung SGH-B130 at Carphone Warehouse

SAMSUNG-B130.jpg

Want a mobile phone for about the same quantity of cash that lunch cost you yesterday? The Samsung SGH-B130 is your man – it costs £5. It boasts a colour screen, vibrating alert and polyphonic ringtones in its features, and it’s described by the Carphone Warehouse, who are selling it, as “surprisingly light and slim”.

It’s got a USB port, too, and WAP and GPRS, but there’s no camera, music player, or touchscreen. You’ll need to add £10 of credit to get the price down to £5, but even so, for the market it’s aimed at, this is a great deal.

Samsung stretches out its OLED display technology to a whole 40 inches

samsung_40-inch_oled.jpg

The OLED tech war is raging in the laboratories of companies across the planet right now, and here’s what Samsung’s boffins have managed to come up with – a 40″ OLED TV.

Massively superior to its past OLED test developments, this latest model features a stunning contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 – and manages to pull off the full HD spec 1920×1080 resolution, or 1080p to give it its common name. It’s pretty much a finished OLED telly, although Samsung has not revealed any launch date plans…

Samsung I7110 (No relation to Tech Digest's Editor)

Samsung has unveiled the I7110 – a new phone that is more than capable of squaring off with the high-end Nokia N-series. It even runs the same Symbian s60 operating system as the N-series.

A lot of the features are pretty much par for the course on these sort of phones – 5 megapixel camera, wifi, bluetooth 2.0, MP3 player, GPS, FM radio, etc, but the I7110 does have a few interesting enhancements that set it apart.

Samsung offering two-for-one cinema tickets for NV camera buyers

Samsung NV100HD.jpg

Although all bar one person missed out on being shot into space with a couple of Samsung NV cameras (something Gary was clearly not happy about when he reported it back in April), we can at least get a fairly decent deal on cinema outings for the next year courtesy of the company to put the first Korean digital camera in space.

Don’t rush out and buy a camera from the NV Series this week, though, as the offer runs from 13th October until 31st December 2008 only…

Shiny Video Preview: Samsung Pixon

In a double-whammy of pink Zara video glory, here’s the Samsung Pixon. It’s an eight megapixel camera phone, and as you’d expect, it takes rather nice pictures. It also opens and closes the lens cover in the software, which I really, really appreciate as an N95 owner. More details from our first look here.

Samsung to launch second 8MP Omnia-like camera phone: the M8800?

samsung_m8800_mobile_phone.jpg

There’s a bit of online speculation over one of Samsung’s next mobile phones. Its model number is the M8800, but as to its actual name (the one people might more easily remember than a few letters and numbers cobbled together) — well that could be Bresson, or it could be Pixon.

With that in mind, take these specifications as tentative. The handset could have a large touchscreen (3.2-inch with 240 x 400 resolution) like the Omnia, but with an eight megapixel camera like the INNOV8
