Samsung M75500 "Night Effect"
Normally designer phones are flashy but underspecced. They look good, but have very little inside – much like many human models, I suppose. These new models from Samsung with Emporio Armani branding, announced on Sunday, don’t buck the trend, I’m afraid to say…
Shiny Video Review: Sony Ericsson W980i
In the above video, Lucy gets her hands on the rather-pretty Sony Ericsson W980i. It’s got decent music specs, decent camera specs and a nice interface. It doesn’t, of course, have a 3.5″ jack, because Sony want you to buy their expensive headphones, but it does come with a big-ass speaker on it – perfect for annoying otherwise-pleasant people on the bus.
The Sony Ericsson W980i is out now, and price will depend on contract.

Google Maps for Mobile gets Street View and walking directions
Google has updated its Maps for Mobile service, bringing 3D Street View to Java-enabled phones, as well as offering walking directions to any destination.
It has also included more information on destinations, including the ability to read reviews of a business.
This addition makes Maps a much more useful service where, arguably, you need it the most — on the move. Walking directions are great in the inner city where driving just isn’t practical, and when London has been fully “Street View-ised” we should be able to enjoy the same 3D views as those in lager US cities do…

HTC Touch HD: mobile Internet and entertainment handset coming this Winter
HTC has announced its latest handset, the Touch HD, which boasts a 3.8-inch wide touchscreen display, five megapixel camera, expandable memory, and TouchFLO 3D user interface.
Big handsets with large screen real estate have grown in popularity since the likes of the iPhone and Viewty, and this is surely HTC’s most convincing competition yet.
This 3G phone can utilise HSDPA at up to 7.2Mbps where available, plus Wi-Fi. The HTC TouchFLO 3D interface sits on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. There’s 512MB of internal Flash memory and 288MB of RAM, plus microSD/SDHC memory card expansion…

RIM announce the flippin' Blackberry Pearl 8220
This is the new Blackberry Pearl smartphone from RIM, and *gasp* it’s a flip! Previous candybar models in the Pearl range have attempted to marry a full qwerty keyboard into a smaller form factor than other Blackberry models, creating a Blackberry/regular phone hybrid, but this is RIM’s first go at putting it into a flip phone…
