Sorry, pervert: Anti-groping mobile phone application now available in Japan

groping-hands.jpgBless Google Images, and the accurate images which pop up when you search for the word ‘groping’. Good thing I had the safety filter on, eh?

Japanese women are apparently going mad for a new application available for download on mobile handsets over there. The ‘Anti-Groping Appli’ flashes various messages up on mobiles, such as ‘Excuse me, did you just grope me?’, ‘Groping is a crime’, and finally ‘Shall we head to the police?’ It’s currently sitting at number seven on this week’s top 10 list of mobile applications over there, with groping of innocent women on public transport an increasingly huge problem.

I have my doubts over whether such an application could work here in Britain or not. Imagine riding the tube late at night, when some drunkard fondles your boob. Would you really consider whipping…

Battle of the purple mobiles: Girls Aloud with the Samsung F210 and Sugababes with the Sony Ericsson K770i

purple-mobiles-battle-2.jpg
You may’ve heard there’s a battle going on over here in the UK. Forget the rugby, the format wars, and the oft-rumoured general election, it’s something far more important. Purple mobile phones. Girl bands. Oh yes, our country has a civil war going on, and it sure is…pretty?

Last Wednesday one of the country’s largest girl bands, Girls Aloud, launched the Samsung F210 Purple, a model exclusive to Phones 4 U. Now this Wednesday, just seven days later, will see their biggest rival girl-band, Sugababes, launch the K770i Purple with Sony Ericsson. Has London been gripped with Purple Power, now that Prince has packed his bags and left the country after 21 sell-out shows?

It sure will be interesting to see which purple phone will conquer the market here in Britain, especially with the constant rumours about rivalry between the two bands. Take a look under the jump, where I pit the K770i against the F210. Who will win this diva-studded war? Only the specs will say…

Nokia reveals UK price of N81, and us Brits are paying extra!

nokia-n81-price-uk.jpg

Yesterday, I reported on Nokia’s announcement that its new N81 handsets were shipping, including the whizzy N81 8GB model. The press release gave the estimated retail price as 430 Euros (around £300).

However, Nokia’s been in touch to confirm the actual UK SIM-free price of the N81 8GB, and it’s going to set us back £394 including VAT. Ouch! I’m not sure where that extra £94 has come from, but it’s probably the government’s fault *shakes fist at taxation injustice*.

Super-blurry Motorola photos hint at 8-megapixel 'Skarven' mobile

img style=”margin:5px; float: left;” alt=”blurry-motorola-pics.jpg” src=”https://www.techdigest.tv/blurry-motorola-pics.jpg” width=”263″ height=”260″ />Don’t blame us for these ultra-blurry photos, they were taken by a sneaky journo in a Motorola presentation in Amsterdam, where photo-taking was strictly NOT allowed.

They previewed four new mobiles for next year’s line-up, including ‘Skarven’, (top right) which apparently has 8-megapixels (yes, this is still a mobile phone we’re talking about), optical zoom and a touch-sensitive screen. The three other phones that were proudly shown off by Motorola include the X PIXL (5-megapixels), TEXEL (music-playing handset with multi-layered keypad) and…
