Dell to launch 'Adamo' MacBook Air competitor?

dell-adamo.jpg

Mac fanboys aside, most of us realised that the Macbook Air was a crystallisation of everything that Apple does – it was an archetypal Apple product. The ridiculous price, the underperforming components, and lack of features, but OH SO PRETTY! That’s why I’m a little nervous that Dell are trying to emulate the machine.

The New York Times, after noticing a few ‘Adamo’ trademark filings, did some digging on Google and eventually confronted Dell’s vice president in charge of consumer sales and marketing, Michael Tatelman, asking him if there was an Air-like product in store. His response? Click over the jump to find out.

Hack makes Dell Inspirion Mini a little bit bigger inside

Clever hardware hacker JKKMobile has made a bit of a name for himself on the netbook “scene”. In the past he’s installed touchscreens, Ubuntu where it shouldn’t be and all sorts, and posted videos of his achievements on YouTube – all narrated with his excellent slightly-creepy east-European accent. Now he’s done it again with what looks to me, the layman, like a surprisingly simply hack – he’s upgraded the solid-state hard-disk inside the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, showing just how easy it is to replace the 4, 8 or 16GB SSD with one much bigger – on his video he goes for 32GB.

Dell & Tesco bringing Linux to the masses – launching £299 Inspiron Z530 "Web Browser" in October

Tesco selling Dell laptops – a match made in retailer heaven. Only, the thing is, and we’d hate to be the ones breaking this to the poor, confused buyer, the Z530 will be running Linux.

The Z530 is described by Tesco as a “Web Browser” rather than a Laptop, PC, portable computer or any of the more usual terms, so presumably Dell and Tesco are aiming…

Dell Inspiron 910 coming tomorrow? Don't expect to be able to type properly on it

There are rumours doing the Internet rounds that Dell may finally be about to release its Inspiron 910 portable notebook PC.

We’ve been expecting it for a while now, but a Wall Street Journal source reckons it could be announced tomorrow.

Apparently, the 8.9-inch XP or Linux notebook will be easy to upgrade various aspects of the PC, including memory and solid-state drive, thanks to their easy accessibility from the base panel.

Dell WANTS IN on the MP3 player and music retailing scene?

Dell-lifestyle-mp3-player-coming.jpg

Box-shifter par excellence Dell is planning to enter the MP3 player market, according to a bit of sniffing around from the Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ reckons that Dell wants a bit of the lucrative music retailing pie as well, so is planning to launch what industry experts will be calling an “iTunes killer” alongside its alleged range of players…
