Dell has finally launched its long-awaited Inspiron Mini 9 netbook, sporting a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950.

Featuring a glossy 8.9-inch LED screen with a resolution of 1,240 x 600, the Inspiron Mini 9 packs in 1GB of RAM, full version of Windows XP, up to 16GB solid state drive, three USB ports, Ethernet, audio line in and out, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, media card reader, and integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam.

The basic unit weighs in at just over a kilogram, and is decked out in currently fashionable glossy piano black. A version with Ubuntu 8.04 and Dell custom interface will be available in a few weeks, knocking thirty quid off the £299 price for the honour.

As for that keyboard? Well, it’s still the same design, so you’d better get used to it.
