Sony touches up the Series T notebooks plus others
I may’ve been slightly critical of Sony Vaios in the past, but these new Series T notebooks may be enough to make me change my mind. I’m such a sucker for graphic covers on products.
With a couple of updates, the series now has a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U7600 processor and 2GB of RAM.
Sony’s updated a couple…
Acer and Ferrari collaborate yet again with the 1100 notebook
The Acer Ferrari notebook which Zara first saw back in October has just been given the go-ahead from both parties, and is now shipping.
The carbon fibre 1100 is the latest in the Ferrari-branded line, and whilst it appears to look a tad bit entry-level in its aethetics, the price…
Dell and Microsoft launch (PRODUCT) RED branded products
Dell and Microsoft have announced that they’ve partnered and joined the (PRODUCT) RED initiative which sees companies donating a portion of the sale price of products to the Global Fund.
Dell products in the scheme include the XPS M1330 (PRODUCT) RED laptop — featuring high-definition 13.3-inch display, full-sized keyboard, built-in Wi-Fi and optional mobile broadband wireless — and the XPS M1530 (PRODUCT) RED — a 15.4-inch laptop loaded with features like built-in webcam and fingerprint reader. The laptops feature vibrant red colouring and accents.
Greenpeace compliments Apple on their 'green' MacBook Air, still hates the iPhone
As my deliberately-crummy Paint effort shows, not only did I spend under two minutes creating a vile green MacBook Air to make fanboys feel queasy, but the hugely-hyped laptop has been commended for its eco-friendliness. By Greenpeace, of all people.
Yes, that’s the same group of people who attacked Apple recently for being one of the least ethical technology manufacturers (admittedly they improved on last year’s efforts, but still fared badly) around.
Their latest laptop however, which launches…
MacBook Air battery CAN be replaced: take one screwdriver…
One of the early criticisms levelled at Apple’s new MacBook Air ultra-thin notebook computer is that the battery seems to be a non-replaceable part.
While Air fans have said that carrying round a spare battery defeats the object of the machine’s portability, if the internal battery goes kaput, it would be a lot handier to be able to pop in a new one without having to send it away to Apple.
It turns out a distinctly low-tech solution exists. According to AppleInsider, all that’s required is “a single size-0 type Philips screwdriver and some diligence.”
Rumour: Next-gen Asus Eee PC to be touchscreen
It’s all about MacBook Air for the geekarati this week, but Asus has a plan to win some attention back to its dinky Eee PC range. It seems the next-generation version of the laptop will have a touchscreen.
Belkin gets in quick with MacBook Air sleeves
When Steve Jobs says ‘Jump!’, all manner of accessory manufacturers say ‘How high can we set prices for new products based on Apple gear?’. Thankfully, Belkin isn’t taking the mickey too much with its just-announced range of MacBook Air sleeves.
Macworld 2008: Apple unveils super-slim MacBook Air notebook
And I mean super slim. Announced at Macworld today, the MacBook Air is 0.76 inches at its thickest point, with Steve Jobs rejoicing in its ability to fit inside an envelope (rest assured, early adopters, that’s not how Apple plans to ship the device to consumers).
