Dell intros Inspiron 1525 15.4-inch notebook: thinner, smaller, lighter, with new designs
Dell has announced the launch of its new Inspiron 1525 notebook computers, boasting they’re smaller (by 25%), slimmer, and lighter (by 250g) than the previous generation.
The notebook boasts a 15.4-inch display, and can be customised with “four new cool patterns” for the back of the display — Blossom, Chill, Commotion and Street.
Features include optional wireless and mobile broadband, Dell MediaDirect technology for one-touch instant access to music, photos and videos, and select Microsoft Office programmes like Calendar and Contacts, without turning on the notebook, optional webcam, and ExpressCard Travel Remote.
CES 2008: OQO shows off WiMAX-enabled Model O2 UMPC
We caught up with OQO at last year’s CES – it’s the grand old inventor of the UMPC market. At least, that’s what they say. Anyway, OQO is showing off a WiMAX-enabled version of its Model 02 UMPC at CES this year, in partnership with US telco Sprint, which is rolling out the Xohm WiMAX network.

2008 could be a big year for teeny-tiny laptops (sorry, Ultra Mobile PCs), with the Asus Eee PC lighting a rocket under the market. Samsung showed off its new UMPC this afternoon during its press conference, and it's looking pretty nifty.

Toshiba this week announced that it is to launch its first notebook PC with built-in rewritable HD DVD drive.
The Qosmio Series 2 will initially launch in Japan, where arguably they can put it to much more use that us lowly high-definition-catcher-uppers in the West.
