Yahoo! says "no" to Microsoft – thinks it's worth more than $45 billion

yahoo-says-no-to-microsoft.jpgYahoo! rejected Microsoft’s friendly buyout offer over the weekend, saying that MS’s $45bn offer “massively undervalues” the Yahoo! brand.

Clearly still thinking it’s 1997 and Google doesn’t exist yet, Yahoo! is apparently sticking out for $40 a share – a significant increase on Microsoft’s $31 offer. That would result in MS having to turn Bill Gates upside down and shake out another $12 billion to get the deal signed…

Imagine looking at websites in glorious high-resolution on your flat-screen telly? Sharp is doing its best to make sure you don’t have to imagine, with a new service called Yahoo! HD for AQUOS’, which was unveiled at the CEATEC Japan 2007 show this week.

Basically, the service upscales content from Yahoo’s Japanese portal to make the most of a 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD TV. Among the features being shown off by Sharp are mapping and picture books, with a keen focus on content that would be likely to “stimulate conversation” among the several people likely to be sitting in front of a TV.

Tried to make Amy Winehouse go to rehab, she said 'No, no, not unless it improves my search engine ranking'
