Silver DS Lite coming to Europe

Does the world want silver handheld gaming devices? I’ve always been quite pleased that Nintendo and Sony have shunned traditional gadget hues in favour of sleek black or white devices (or, in recent times, multicoloured ones).

Nevertheless, Nintendo has announced that its silver DS Lite will go on sale in Europe on 12th October for £99, which the company optimistically claims is “the perfect accessory whatever you’re wearing!” What if you’re clad entirely in gold?

snoopyds.jpg Everyone’s favourite dog, Snoopy, is dog-paddling his way to the DS shortly, in a game that promises to teach users English. Yes, a dog teaching you English. Well, at least it’s not hamsters!

English Lessons With Snoopy allowes gamers to use the stylus to touch all items in a scene, and view the English spelling and pronunciation, triggering animated actions within the scene. Snoopy’s joined by Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang, who can help you through English-training minigames, slide puzzles and even a Charlie Brown dress-up game. So that’ll be several different zig-zag shirts then?…

This is possibly the most important techno story I’ve seen all week, it’s officially ok to be geeky. A new list of the UK’s most coolest brands has been released and the top 10 contains SEVEN firms related to gadgets, gaming and the internet. So if that’s not a reason to embrace your virtual friends and give thanks I don’t know what is.

The iPod was only pipped into second place in the CoolBrands 2007 by James Bond’s favourite car, the Aston Martin, and you could argue there’s something geeky about being a fan of that motor. No longer is it nerdy to be geeky – because both are different…
