The maps, provided by the Ordnance Survey, will cover a variety of areas, with the first in the series covering London.

The product comes as a memory card which is loaded into the phone and then allows you to search for points of interest, including sights, things to do, and AA-rated restaurants and hotels.

Millions of mobile phone photos going to waste: enter the MAX BOX

max_box_image.jpgNew research from Felix Group suggests that millions of photos captured using mobile phones are going to waste because people have either forgotten that they’ve taken them, or they get stored away digitally, never to exist in printed form.

They reckon that the average camera phone has 67 images on it, with the most popular types of photo being groups of friends/colleagues on a night out, family pets, family members, holiday snaps, and famous people spotted in public.

Now the company believe they’ve come up with a solution to get those shots out in the open. The MAX BOX.

Orange intro new European roaming rates

orange_logo_small.jpgOrange has announced the launch of new European mobile roaming rates for its consumers. From 30th August 2007, it will cost 38p per minute to make a call while roaming, and 19p per minute to receive them – at least, in their “Europe 1” area.

Orange customers can check how much a call will cost while away, by texting “FROM [COUNTRY]” to 452 (PAYG) or 159 (Pay Monthly), and receiving a free-of-charge confirmation from Orange.

No doubt this new “transparency” on Orange’s part is in response to various initiatives by the EU and Germany to pull into line the high costs associated with mobile roaming abroad.

On Tuesday, we reported that German company Deutsche Telekom were poised to clinch an exclusive iPhone deal, at least for German customers. In previous months, both Vodafone and T-Mobile were said to be favourites for winning the iPhone.

O2 were supposedly nowhere to be seen.

Yet a report in yesterday’s Financial Times suggests otherwise.
