Gameloft embracing iPhone gaming – has 15 on the go
The fallout from the earth-shattering iPhone SDK revelations continue, with independent developer Gameloft revealing its iGaming plans.
And it has a lot of plans. 15 plans. 15 plans for 15 separate iPhone games scheduled for 2008 – but the only one confirmed so far is Bubble Bash to the left there.

Jonathan Weinberg writes… Mobile phones will never, ever, be portable games consoles. Nokia tried it with their N-Gage device, and they are trying it again with N-Gage software on their normal handsets. Gizmondo (while not strictly a phone) tried it – and failed miserably.
Now Steve Jobs has set his sights on trying to battle Sony and Nintendo for a slice of the portable gaming industry by opening up the iPhone to top-notch titles.
It’s a nice soundbite, it’s a good offering for Apple consumers, but it will still only ever be a mobile phone that you can play games on – rather than a games console. And they are, and always shall be, two totally different propositions and never the twain should meet…
Apple reveals gaming plans – Monkey Ball and Spore spearheading iPhone games push
Shown off last night at the iPhone SDK unveiling, here’s a look at SEGA’s legendary Monkey Ball running on iPhone. And running really bloody well by the looks of it.
Monkey Ball uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to detect movements, so, just like in the Wii version, you’ll be able to steer your little monkey around by moving your hands from side to side.
Brits buying more games than music on the high street
Statistics from the Entertainment Retailers’ Association reveals that in the UK, revenue from sales of video games is topping that of music sales for the first time. Video games are now the second most valuable entertainment market at £1,719m, still trailing the DVD market at £2,164m but rapidly closing the gap.
