The GPS parachuting helmet that makes you look like Master Chief from Halo 3

gps-helmet-01.jpgCheck out ParaNav, the new helmet-mounted GPS navigation system for parachutists from Rockwell Collins. It’s also a flight management system with built-in head-up display, helping you fly to your planned landing destination.

Apparently it works at 28,000 feet and temperatures of -20 degrees. However, this ain’t for weekend parachutists: it’s meant for military types. All I can think when I look at it is ‘Master Chief’ though – perhaps the designers were big Halo fans. Or perhaps Halo’s developers are parachute buffs, of course.

Halo 3 has already sold a million copies

halo-3-million.jpgA cheerful Microsoft reckons that on American pre-orders alone, the latest in the Halo mega-franchise has already sold more than one million copies.

As well as this advance blockbuster warning, Microsoft also had its world-spamming Halo 3 publicity plans revealed on the Wall Street Journal, which also points out the awesome fact that video games hauled in $31.6 billion last year…

Microsoft signs deal for Halo 3 action figures

The long wait is on for Halo fans following the closure of Microsoft’s recent online beta. Halo 3 doesn’t come out until 25th September on Xbox 360. However, here’s some corking news to ease the frustration: McFarlane Toys (of Spawn fame) has bagged the official licence to bring out official Halo action figures.
