The Video Game BAFTAs are nothing to do with the proper BAFTA awards that happened over the weekend. It’s different. It is, more importantly, a separate event, so you don’t get the oddly-shaped, bearded, podgy video game makers of the world mingling with the beautiful people of the film universe.

The gaming BAFTA winners will be announced this March and the Academy has just released its full, vast list of all the nominations. They’re all here, right from “Best Game” to the odd world of “Best Audio”.

You and I, the common folk, are allowed to vote in only ONE category – the GAME-sponsored “GAME Award of 2008”. Nine games are in this category – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Guitar Hero…

Pub Mania brings your local Nag's Head to your mobile phone

pubmania1.gifHere’s one mobile game that’s after my own heart, Pub Mania, which is set in, whaddya know, a pub! Luckily it doesn’t come with the lairy lads, stale stench of sweat and beer and pork scratchings wrappers littering the floor. That’ll be in Cocktail Mania, heh.

Watch out for the hot coffee mod which includes having to shoo junkies away from your beer garden, and break up bar fights between football fans…

halo-3-unboxing-1.jpg
Yes, usually, I hate the unnecessary swag. But this Xbox 360, Halo 3 Edition passed envelope, is pretty much the best set of press junk I have ever seen. The padded envelope is printed with my name, and work address. There are two limited…err…um….errr…Here comes the unboxing…er unbagging.*
halo-3-unboxing-2.jpg
So this is me sliding the game out of the padded envelope, with bated breath. Could it be…is it…my god! It is! It’s the Saviour! The Game Of The Year! The game which will secure Microsoft’s crown as Console King! My god! Look at the shiny, clear plastic, stretched over the most handsome lime-green case you’ll ever own. I can hardly believe it…it…it…it’s beautiful….

Learn English with Snoopy and Charlie Brown on new Nintendo DS game

snoopyds.jpg Everyone’s favourite dog, Snoopy, is dog-paddling his way to the DS shortly, in a game that promises to teach users English. Yes, a dog teaching you English. Well, at least it’s not hamsters!

English Lessons With Snoopy allowes gamers to use the stylus to touch all items in a scene, and view the English spelling and pronunciation, triggering animated actions within the scene. Snoopy’s joined by Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang, who can help you through English-training minigames, slide puzzles and even a Charlie Brown dress-up game. So that’ll be several different zig-zag shirts then?…
