Pioneer announces HDJ-2000 professional DJ headphones


I should probably have left this announcement for our resident DJ Duncan, but as an aspiring one (and resident trumpeter) I’ll bring you the news that Pioneer has just announced its HDJ-2000 professional DJ headphones.

Let’s take a look at the specs:

These fully-enclosed dynamic headphones have a decent frequency response of 5Hz-30kHz, 36Ω impedance, 107dB sensitivity, and 3,500mW maximum power input. They are constructed with 50mm dome type drive units and come with a 1.2m-long coiled type connecting lead which connects via mini-XLR…

Pioneer intros sleek, audiophile-friendly Series 8 speakers


Pioneer has announced its new line of Series 8 audiophile-quality speakers, available in three models: S-81 floor-standing, S-81B-LR bookshelf, and S-81C centre speaker.

Created by an international team of acoustic engineers, they feature an advanced speaker unit construction including concentric tweeter/midrange driver, a tweeter made from titanium, and Harmonised Synthetic Diaphragm Optimum Method technology which can reproduce the very high frequencies found in high definition recordings…

Pioneer on a roll, develops 500GB optical disc

pioneer_16layer_disc.jpgOnly last month we were heralding Pioneer’s development of a 400GB optical disc, and just a month later its researchers have popped on another four layers and 100GB of storage to create a half terabyte disc.

In actual fact, to be fair, Pioneer has simply confirmed the “viability” of such a disc, which may or may not exist in a laboratory somewhere. The company believes that the technology, based on the same techniques used to make current 25GB and 50GB Blu-ray discs, is easier and cheaper to produce than holographic discs…

Pioneer launching premium Blu-ray players with full BonusView features


Pioneer has announced two new Blu-ray players — the Elite BDP-05FD and Pioneer BDP-51FD — both offering “premium” features and with full BonusView functionality.
