pioneer_kuro_logo.pngPioneer has announced a new line of KURO plasma TVs, claiming they feature black levels five times deeper than their previous KURO models. This in turn means that the sets can display a wider range of deeper colours.

Available initially in 50 and 60 inch screen sizes, these 1080p sets feature advanced SRS WOW HD audio for enhanced virtual surround sound, auto volume stabilisation which controls the volume level when switching between different types of programme, and Optimum Mode for automatically adjusting the picture based on the video and room conditions.

The TVs are just 3.7 inches thick, and come with a newly designed remote control unit and high definition interface. They can also be networked for streaming content from a PC.

The PDP-5020FD and PDP-6020FD will be available in the US from June, priced around $4,000 and $5,500 respectively. They’re coming to the UK soon after, prices and detailed specs to be confirmed.
