Brit bloggers love Apple, BBC, Google, and M&S
British bloggers like nothing better than writing about technology and web companies, but also hold a special place for Marks & Spencer, according to a recent month-long study of 100 random bloggers — “Blogs and Brands: A Study of the British Blogosphere”.
In top place, with bloggers babbling about iPods and Macs, came Apple, followed by the BBC in second, Google in third, Facebook in fourth, Nintendo in fifth, M&S and Microsoft in joint sixth, Adobe, Sony, and YouTube in joint seventh, Sky in eighth, Nokia, IKEA, and Tesco in joint ninth, and a whole bunch of others in joint tenth place…
'Grand Theft Auto IV to be released on Nintendo DS come August' sez French bloggers
Lots of Grand Theft Auto IV news leaking out of the waterlogged PR machine, with the latest rumour revolving around a possible Nintendo DS version.
The rumour originated with the French lads at Game-Class, who claim to have spotted information about the port being released in France in August. I’m calling shenanigans on this one, however if Nintendo…
Shiny Video Preview: Nintendo Wii Fit video game
Susi recently had a session on the upcoming Wii Fit game for Nintendo’s Wii console, so take a look at her attempts to ‘get fit’ in the video above.
Never fear though, as soon you’ll be making a fool of yourself too, when it launches on April the 25th, for £69.99…
Rock Band heading to American Wiis in June… aren't we forgetting something?
Hey! Harmonix? Harmooooonix!! Hey, over here! Over here a second! Come on man, it’s us…. the rest of the world. You remember us, right? All those crazy accents, the weird food, the better cars? Yeah those ones. Well, we’d mightily appreciate a copy of that there game you’re selling… That’s it, Rock Band. Pretty please?
But apparently Harmonix ain’t selling. While Rock Band’s debut outside North America is no longer expected until around September time, the developer is merrily gearing up for the Wii version’s release on June 22nd…
Greenpeace accuses Nintendo of not playing eco-friendly ball, in Greener Guide to Electronics report
It might be top of class in the hardware stakes, but Nintendo is apparently flunking its environmental responsibilities. After scoring a whopping 0/10 last year for company policy on handling toxic waste, the big N has been accused by Greenpeace of still not making enough effort to prove its ‘environmental credentials’ by openly presenting eco-friendly solutions.
ColorWare adds Nintendo DS Lite customisation service
New Ravers, rejoice! ColorWare have added the DS Lite to their library of customisable gaming hardware. Using the online palette, you can select your own garish combination of glossy, scratch resistant finishes. There’s even a metallic paint option ‘with sparkling flakes’, which may or may not end up looking like the stuff they use on bumper cars at the fair.
Shiny Video: London's Guinness Book of World Records' gaming character costumes attempt
This morning I waved my gamer-geek credentials high in the sky from London’s Millennium Bridge, where the Guinness Book of World Records staged an event, attempting to gather together the most people in one place dressed as game characters.
Take a look at the video above for some choice costumes, including the twenty-odd strong group of school kids dressed as Mario (one of them shouted out to me, as I was also dressed as Mario, “Mario! we’re your sons!”), Crash Bandicoot, Sonic the Hedgehog, a chilly-looking Lara Croft, Final Fantasy’s Rikku plus a whole lot more.

Opinion: Why Apple's iPhone won't beat Sony's PSP and Nintendo's DS at their own game!
Jonathan Weinberg writes… Mobile phones will never, ever, be portable games consoles. Nokia tried it with their N-Gage device, and they are trying it again with N-Gage software on their normal handsets. Gizmondo (while not strictly a phone) tried it – and failed miserably.
Now Steve Jobs has set his sights on trying to battle Sony and Nintendo for a slice of the portable gaming industry by opening up the iPhone to top-notch titles.
It’s a nice soundbite, it’s a good offering for Apple consumers, but it will still only ever be a mobile phone that you can play games on – rather than a games console. And they are, and always shall be, two totally different propositions and never the twain should meet…
