Shiny Video Review: four best PMPs for watching Lost on, from Archos, Creative, Apple and Sony


In case you haven’t been suckered into it, Lost has left our screens for a four-week hiatus, so I thought it was high time to review four of the best PMPs for storing the last four seasons of the addictive show onto, for watching when you’re on the train to work, at the football, or waiting for your colleague who’s in a sex shop.

Philips doesn't mess about, with the DC185, DC910, DC570, DC200, DC1010 and BTM630 iPod docks

Philips may’ve announced the GoGear SA52 media player, but they still know iPod-friendly docking stations are a clear winner, unveiling four new products today.

With the DC185, DC910, DC570, DC200, DC1010 and BTM630, there’s something for all the dock fans.

Pictured, the DC910 charges as it plays, although I doubt it offers Arcam’s smart technology where it stops charging once the battery is full. If you don’t own an iPod, that’s fine by Philips, as they also have USB and SD card slots so you can play choons thattaway too…

Apple may offer unlimited iTunes access for more expensive iPods

According to recent reports, Apple may be considering unlimited access to their massive iTunes music collection for anyone who pays a premium price for an iPod or iPhone.

Now, I know you’re probably thinking that Apple already charges a premium price for their kit, but the idea is that an extra one-off fee when purchasing an Apple-branded media player or phone would then give unlimited access to streaming music from their online store…

Onkyo launches CBX-300 iPod-friendly receiver system

It must be the season for home audio components with built-in iPod docks — just when you thought the craze had died out. The latest offering comes from Onkyo. Their CBX-300 features an iPod dock, CD player, and radio, built in to a sleek, compact, shiny black cabinet.

Onkyo’s engineers spent time making a rigid chassis which helps to avoid unwanted resonance. The 8cm OMF (Onkyo Micro Fibre) diaphragm speakers are mounted in separate enclosures inside the main chassis, and the Active Bass Control allows for decent bass response even at low volume levels…
