Apple isn't a fan of boobs or booty

iphone-boob-application.png

Both “boobs” and “booty” have been banned from being used in marketing text for an application called “Wobble”, which allows users to add ‘wobble points’, around which any picture they like will wobble. If that confused you, check the promotional video for the app, but be warned, it’s probably mildly NSFW.

Back in December, an application called iBoobs was banned from the App store, and now ‘Wobble’ is under threat too. When the developer complained about the censorship, Apple told him “Wobble and Apple had an agreement that we needed to comply with”.

Apple are rather tetchy about the tone of the app store. For a long time, burp and fart apps weren’t allowed (though they’re now ridiculously popular), and full-on porn has never been allowed. Where does the line get drawn, though? Share your opinion in the comments.

Adobe still confident of Flash on iPhone, must pass Apple's tests

flashlogo.gif

I’ve lost track of how many times Adobe has said that a version of Flash for the iPhone is imminent, but at the “Flash on the Beach” conference in Brighton (who thought up that title then, eh?), the company said that a version of its Flash Player could be released “in a very short time”.

Of course, it’s one thing to write an application for the iPhone, and quite another to get it past Apple. A number of applications have been refused entry to the App Store, or pulled soon after launching, because they failed one of Apple’s strict entry criteria…

Atari getting behind Apple's App Store – Missile Command and Super Breakout on the way

atari-breakout-apple-app-store.jpg

Not only are Missile Command and Super Breakout both coming to the App Store for play on iPhone and iPod touch, but they’re also getting tacked-on motion controls to make playing them in public more than a little embarrassing. It is the way of the future.

Missile Command uses the Multi Touch feature to allow missile placement with your fingers, a clever idea which ought to emulate the original arcade machine’s trackball controller far better than any other modern day console could…

iPhone confirmed as a serious games machine – SEGA's Monkey Ball sells 300,000 in three weeks

SEGA, maker of the legendary Super Monkey Ball series, told moneyman blog the Wall Street Journal that it’s sold 300,000 copies of Monkey Ball via the App Store in the 20 days since launch. At $9.99 a pop, that’s one hell of a cash cow for all involved.

“It gives iPhone a justifiable claim to being a viable gaming platform, ” said Simon Jeffery, president of Sega’s US arm. It also means Nintendo and Sony might…

Gallery: UK iPhone 3G unboxed and ready to go

I'm lazy, and couldn't be bothered to go and queue at an O2 store this morning, so I had my iPhone 3G delivered. Arrived just before 10am.

Here's a gallery of the unboxing. Yes, they're all over the web, but not many have got the British mains plug, or my Facebook profile page. Gotta be worth something, I'd have thought.

iTunes 7.7 now available: iPhone App Store live

With New Zealand’s iPhone launch less than an hour away, it’s no surprise that Apple has finally released iTunes 7.7, a required piece of software for activating the iPhone and accessing the applications store.

It’s a 48MB download, but given that you need a broadband connection to use the iPhone anyway, it should only take you five minutes or so to install (unless Apple’s web servers start crawling, which is a possibility)…
