Belkin JoyPod to bring pleasure to iPhone gaming
It may sound like the real-life name for the Orgasmatron but the Belkin JoyPod could, in fact, be one of the best add-ons to reach the iPhone since its very creation. Well, ok, that may be a bit of an overstatement but this is the first time in ages that I’ve been genuinely excited about the perennial pod peripherals purveyor all to which they pertain.
The JoyPod snaps onto the iTouch/phone from the two ends, meeting in the middle as with most cases for the Apple darlings right now. The only difference here is that the end result presents you with something looking rather like a SNES controller or PSP. Feeling it yet?
Apple is said to be offering full SDK support and, with the app store in full flow, there could be a lot of fun to be had. Combining controls of the accelerator and the d-pad of this new device could make for some interesting and rather tricky 3-dimensional gaming.
Word is that testing will begin as of October and here’s hoping we’ve something solid by xmas. I can think of a few names I could cross of my shopping list.
