Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off this year on June 9, and every Mac fan is already suffering sleepless nights and moist dreams over what gadget Steve Jobs may pull out of his trousers this time.

Today’s rumour is centred around Apple’s showing at WWDC and the current iPhone drought. If the 3G iPhone hits before June as these current shortages suggest, what will Steve flop out at Apple’s premier tech showcase in June?

Apparently, according to MacRumours, it’s going to be a multitouch-powered tablet computer. Apple itself called WWDC a “landmark event” – so it clearly thinks it’s got something decent…

Gordon Brown tries his utmost to convince us iPod is British invention

Perhaps the Prime Minister thought he’d get away with massaging facts about the iPod during an interview on daytime TV, but a Register reporter (who obviously has more time to watch This Morning than I) has picked up on his faux pas.

NBC took its shows off iTunes – now they've popped up on Zune

After bravely turning its back on Apple’s iTunes thanks to rows over money and royalties and charges and the like, American telly juggernaut NBC has started releasing its shows via the… Zune shop. What’s the Zune shop called? Anyone have a clue? MicroStore? ZuneTunes?

Whatever the Zune shop is called, it now hosts more than 800 NBC-owned ‘properties’, with shows coming from the likes of Comedy Central…

Digital Summer Special: High-tech audio systems

Several of the companies exhibiting at Digital Summer had some interesting audio technology on show.

There’s been plenty of talk about creating virtual surround sound from a pair of stereo speakers, but not so much (that I’ve heard of) about creating a wide stereo sound space from one speaker unit.
