Constant Garden – desktop audio-greenery

constant-garden.jpg

Regardless of the function of the Constant Garden, it’s the kind of object I’d love to have on my desk. Plants are soothing and there’s something about the shiny rubberyness of this one that makes you want to touch it as well. I can see myself daydreaming away while absent-mindedly running my fingers through it for hours.

As it goes, each stem of this little green patch contains a mini speaker and the idea from designers Annika Ushio and Vanessa Satele is to provide a device not only capable of playing music but also to be programmed as a desktop personal organiser…

Denon’s second pair of high-end headphones, the AH-D2000 model, takes the best features of the pricey AH-D5000s, but thankfully not the £500 price tag. They’re just half the price, at £249.99.

terminal-5-gadgets.jpg

If you’re a member of the British Airways Executive Club, you would’ve received an email today announcing an “altogether unique shopping experience” at Heathrow Terminal Five.

Now, you wouldn’t get me down to Terminal Five for love or money, but if you’re an unfortunate sod who happened to book your holiday before checking the terminal at Heathrow you’re departing from, it may cheer you up slightly…

Sony announces MDR-NC500D headphones, world's first digital noise-cancelling pair

MDR-NC500D.jpg

Another product to add to the ‘world’s first’ category, Sony claims these MDR-NC500D headphones are the world’s first digital noise-cancelling pair.

With 99% of ambient noise cut out supposedly (although that’s based on ‘Sony’s measurement standards’ apparently), they use digital technology with Artificial Intelligence, with an internal processor adapting the level of cancellation dependent on the outside noise. The ‘AI Mode’ button lets you choose from three cancellation modes, alternatively press down and hold…

Skullcandy targets iPhone owners and Kubrick fans with their Full Metal Jacket and TiTAN earbuds

form mt:asset-id=”5015″ class=”mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image” style=”display: inline;”>skullcandy-full-metal-jacket.jpg

I’m such a sucker for well-named products, especially when they’re a bit gimmicky, like these ‘Full Metal Jacket’ earbuds from Skullcandy, named after one of my favourite films of all time.

Not sure if Kubrick would approve, but I’m sure you will, as they’ve been ‘designed with Apple in mind’, allowing you to answer your calls, with an aluminium foil in-line microphone cable that slots into your iPhone, as well as listen to some Beethoven like Kubrick’s other famous protagonist. The frequency range is 16 – 20,000 Hz,…

Shiny Video Review: the best noise-cancelling headphones, from Sennheiser, Bose, JVC and Creative

tdlive-one.gif

I’ve been traipsing all over central London for you today, testing four pairs of noise-cancelling headphones, the HA-NC250 from JVC, some Bose Quiet Comfort 3 cans, the PXC-350 from Sennheiser, and finally, the Creative Aurvana X-Fi.

How do they fare on public transport in London? Check out the video above, where I test them on the tube, the overground train, a double decker bus, and walking around Piccadilly Circus. And yes, in case you’re wondering, I *did* say “King’s Cross St. Pancreas”. I am a doofus…

Sony has introduced a range of new headphones boasting “audacious styling” and advanced technology. Unfortunately, they’re still as heavy on the unmemorable product names.

The MDR-EX700LP in-ear headphones feature a 16mm driver unit, which Sony claims is the largest of any in-ear headphone design, plus vertical driver orientation, multi-layer diaphragm designed for greater stiffness and elimination of distortion, and seven sizes of hybrid silicone earbuds to give the perfect, custom fit.

They come with a premium leather carry case.
