Radiohead launches social networking site for gossip about Thom's hair, Waste-Central

radiohead-3.jpg

They’ve already asked you to create music videos for their In Rainbows album, and given you the task of remixing their single ‘Nude’, now they’re demanding you waste even more of your time helping them own the internet, with their aptly-named new social networking site, Waste-Central.

Powered by the Ning platform which 50 Cent also uses, Waste-Central lets fans post videos, remixes, photos, music files, blog and even sign up for a special Radiohead email address. The main attraction to the site is the gigapedia-type service so you can find the gig you’re going to, meet the other fans who’ve spent £42.50 on a ticket, and obviously arrange to meet up before or after the gig to talk about Thom Yorke’s hair…

Microsoft and Yahoo stayed up late all weekend on Messenger, still no decision made

big-fish-eating-small-fish.jpg

The weekend was not a quiet one for the oppressive Microsofties and underlingers Yahoo, with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer issuing Yahoo an ultimatum in an open letter to the board of directors, ranting “our goal in making such a generous offer was to create the basis for a speedy and ultimately friendly transaction. Despite this, the pace of the last two months has been anything but speedy.”

He’s given Yahoo three weeks to accept the offer, or Microsoft will usurp Yahoo’s board of directors, replacing them with new, more Microsoft-friendly officers….

YouTube Hits: 14 year old kid parodies Fergalicious with 'Mathmaticious'

When I watched this video on Saturday morning, it had just over 10,000 views. Looking now, it’s had close to 800,000 – I think I contributed about 400,000 views to that number in the last few days. I am obsessed.

“A mathematical parody of Fergie’s Fergalicious”, the 14 year old kiddynerdzoid behind the video claims. Watch it. And watch it again. Let’s hope Fergie employs him for her next music video…

Facebook Chat opens in beta to lucky few, offers a "compelling experience" apparently

facebook-IM-chat.jpg

Facebook Chat launched on Saturday to a few select networks, in the ubiquitous ‘beta’ mode. So far so good, with the lucky few who’ve been trialling it reporting “it’s a great implementation”.

A permanent, unhideable Chat bar appears on the bottom of every page on Facebook, which shows your various IM conversations, notifications and online contacts. Whilst the default setting for conversations is within your Facebook window, you can minimise it, or open a new tab for that chat. Status updates are also integrated into the Chat window, plus your contact’s actions – so if…

motorola-car-phone.jpg

Obviously Motorola hasn’t quite grasped that when your company is struggling as much as they are, the worst thing you could possibly announce is that you’re going back to manufacturing 1992’s technology.

Hoping to remind the world they were once market leaders, and indeed invented the ruddy mobile phone, they’re releasing the Smart Rider Car Phone, a slinky Bluetooth-enabled BlackBerry-shaped phone…
