Half of UK homes now ready for digital switchover
Half of all UK households have switched all of their TV sets over to digital, according to new research from Ofcom and Digital UK.
Nearly nine out of ten respondents were aware of digital switchover – the highest number to date – while two out of three understood how to prepare for the switchover.
Ofcom estimates that there are approximately 60 million TVs in use in the UK, with the average household owning two or three sets.
In June, Ofcom reported that four out of five homes had digital TV, though this doesn’t mean that all TVs had been converted. They also claimed that 51% of all TVs in the UK were now digital.
