1873 Monocycle replica – it could be yours
Forget old photos of skinny men in top hats riding around on strange bicycles – you can pick one up yourself, namely the Monocycle.
This particular Monocycle is a replica based on a model from 1873, created by a mechanically-minded gent from Spain, using 19th Century documentation and old-style handcrafting techniques, not to mention a 6.16-foot wheel and a 238-teeth inner segment.
You can check out numerous images and more detail on the construction over at eBay, where it was being sold for $13,000. The auction ended yesterday without a single bidder, so expect a re-listing in the coming days.
