Vodafone UK launches "At Home" broadband service for its mobile users

vodafone.pngVodafone today entered the crowded UK broadband scene with the introduction of their At Home broadband service. It costs £25 per month for 8Mbps speed unlimited access, plus inclusive anytime landline calls and a 25% discount on calls to mobiles, and is available to anyone on a Vodafone monthly mobile phone contract.

Like a number of other companies, Vodafone is choosing to resell Internet access from British Telecom, rather than building its own network. Whilst that means it’s a lot cheaper and quicker to set up, it does leave Voda at the mercy of BT’s own reliability and pricing.

Other giants to enter the broadband arena recently include Sky, Orange, and the Carphone Warehouse. It may well mean more choice and better value for consumers, though it could also add to the confusion.
