The internet radio agreggators over at Radiopaq have decided that they're bored of being trapped inside your computers and have today launched a new Wi-Fi DAB radio to stream all the music stations and all the podcasts you need straight to wherever you and your sexy new gadget are.

You don't think it's sexy? Well, actually I'm not too sure as yet myself but, from the images, I'm getting nice smooth lines, a good looking LCD - including functionality designed to mimic the Radiopaq website - and a five-way speaker system.

intempo_fusion_ipod_dock_dab_fm_radio.jpg

Intempo has gone for a sleek, curvy look on its new Fusion, the successor to last year's popular RDI-03 iPod/DAB speaker system.

The sculptured design means that whichever of the iPod family you pop in the cradle, it's still easy to access its controls.

tesco_technika_dab_radio.jpgNot content with selling Dell and Apple products, as well as a whole range of other electrical goods, alongside the potatoes and sprouts, Tesco has announced that it is to sell the Technika DAB-108P, which it claims is the smallest and cheapest DAB radio available in the UK.

Features include automatic scanning and saving of digital radio stations, display editing, various sound presets, and standard FM radio as well.

The unit is under 7cms long, and weighs just 52g. Available now for £34.97. Beware, though, for while the unit itself may be cheap, it could eat its way through a stack of AAA batteries.

When the people at alarm clock manufacturer Roberts wake up in the morning, they like to do so to a choice of music. Not just some random bleepy-bleeping bleep alarm, or some scratchy FM radio static.. No. They want music. And they want to be able to specifically choose the track to wake up to. Something like 'Beautiful Day' by U2, perhaps.. or 'Wake me up before you Go-Go' by Wham, maybe. Anyway, they appear to want us to have the same level of choice too, because they have invented a machine which allows us to do that very thing.

Step forward the 'Sound 40', an all new 'bells and whistles' alarm clock designed for the 21st Century individual who likes bells and whistles. Check out it's impressive audio array: DAB radio. In-built CD player. SD media card player. MP3 and WMA playback. An input source for your iPod (or other such music player). And oh yeah, it still has a buzzer, presumably for those poor lost souls who can never decide on anything.

pure_one_elite_dab_fm_radio.jpg

Key features include pausing and rewinding live radio for up to 15 minutes, pausing and control of broadcast scrolling text, radio alarm, RDS support, auxiliary input for adding an iPod or other audio device, 50 tuner presets, and optional ChargePAK which gives around 35 hours of portable use.

The One Elite is available now in both black and white casing.

Fancy a bright red Bush?

bush_red_DAB.jpg

Bush, fine purveyor of DAB radio wares, has announced that its popular, enticingly named TR04DAB DAB radio is getting a sensual makeover. It is now available in "luscious" Lip Gloss Red and also sports a "sexy" touchscreen control panel, specifically designed for wild sexy people who need their audio appliances to ooze carnal vibes as well as Radio 4.

Mixing old school 1950's stylings with ultra-new DAB technology, Bush claims it's best suited to "urban living spaces", by which we assume it means 'bedsit' where any semblance of colour coordination went out the window about five tenants ago. Aside from the lurid red finish and the touch-screen controls, it also incorporates a large two line LCD with blue LED back lighting. It will also store up to 10 DAB and FM stations and features an auto-tune function.

It's available from this month for £49.99.

lg_FA163DAB_idock_with iPod.jpg

LG's relationship with Mark Levinson continues with the introducing of the specially tuned FA163DAB iDock micro system.

Yes, that telltale 'i' at the start of the product name gives the game away -- it's another iPod-friendly home audio system which also includes a vertical slot-loading CD player and a DAB radio.

roberts_solardab_dab_digital_radio.jpgRoberts has announced its solarDAB radio, which it claims is the world's first solar-powered DAB radio. Seems like an idea that should've been done already, but apparently not.

The radio contains a solar panel which either powers the radio directly, if the sun is strong enough, or recharges the internal battery. When out of daylight, a fully charged battery can run the radio for up to 27 hours, and the radio can also be used and charged via the mains.

roberts_stream_202_silver_dab_wi-fi_radio_2.jpgAs if there wasn't enough to deal with in switching over TV from analogue to digital, there's a new recommendation in town: that DAB radio is the format of choice for radio and should replace FM broadcasts by 2020.

That's according to an interim report by The Digital Radio Working Group, which suggests that DAB should be the primary way of delivering digital radio because the UK has a well-developed DAB market, and it can be freely received once appropriate equipment is purchased.

pure_mini.jpgPure bestselling One digital radio now has a small offspring - the Pure One Mini.

It's budget DAB in a small package, offering up FM and DAB reception, an optional rechargeable battery, 16 presets, iPod connectivity, USB (for updating the software and textSCAN, which lets you control the scrolling text on the screen.

Available in black, white or pink, you can pick one up for £39.99.

iRiver SPINN - coming to the UK this August, with new DAB tuner powers | Dualit updates kitchen DAB with Dualit Lite

iriver-spinn-uk-august-with-dab-radio.jpgWe were, like, all about the iRiver SPINN when it was revealed during January's CES 2008 gadget EXPLOSION - and now the silvery thing has an actual UK release date.

It'll be out here in August and, for the UK market because we're so special, we're getting an enhanced model complete with fashionable DAB tuner. We'll no doubt also get a very, very special price as well. Special as in more than the rest of the planet.

The SPINN was impressive enough to begin with, what with it packing 4, 8 or 16GB of memory, a 3.2" 480 x 272 AMOLED screen, fancy little spin wheel for easy navigation and Bluetooth 2.0 for dumping your media on it with. It'll handle MP4 and WMV movies, with the battery giving you five hours of film watching or four hours of DAB listening - but a decent 25 hours if you're using it for standard MP3 playback.

The shape has changed, but the feature set is fairly standard - DAB and FM (with RDS) reception, a 3-inch (6w) speaker, kitchen timer, alarm clock, snooze/sleep button and rechargeable battery/mains power.

It's available from July, priced at a much more palatable £85.
