Bless Yamaha, they're really thinking outside the box these days, in between designing glow in the dark iPod-docking electrical motorbikes and now the Tenori-On, a musical sequencer.
From what I can gather, the general gist of the Tenori-On is that it's fairly similar to that reacTable instrument we wrote about recently which Bjork has been using, in that it allows you to create musical loops and melodies.
It's an LED-lit tablet, which is launching here in Blighty next month, and will be insanely popular amongst aspiring Intelligent Dance Musicians I can imagine - anyone who fancies being the next Tom Jenkinson or Richard D. James. It's reportedly been road-tested by Kraftwerk, Mouse on Mars and other brilliant artists, so you know you'll be in good company if you manage to get your hands on one. Fingers crossed we can snag a review model for a video review at some point!
