At a press launch in Paris this morning, Toshiba has given the masses a couple of new laptop models to gnaw their teeth over indecisively. The Portégé M800, pictured, is unlike their previous Portégé offering (the R500), as it’s finished in a pearl-white casing, with silver contrasts and white LEDs.

Measuring in at 13.3″, it will be released into the wild in Europe, the Middle East and Africa later this year, Q3 to be ‘precise’…

A robot war to make your heart bleed: the Pleo gets savaged at Maker Faire

dead-pleo.jpg

For the queasy-stomached, I would suggest you find another computer monitor to stare at. It’s pretty grim. That deflated yellow and green skin littering the ground in the photo above is actually a Pleo, after a ruckus at the weekend’s Maker Faire in the US.

Take a look below the jump for the video footage of the poor defenseless dino getting savaged by Vicious Verdict, a rival ComBot robot. Be warned – it’s pretty gruesome…

parrot-digital-photo-frame.jpg

Parrot’s been busy putting on airs recently, trying to shed its image of being a pocket-friendly company, with the launch of a new digital photo frame designed by French designer Andre Putman.

At £250, it’s a fair cry from Parrot’s usual offerings, yet the 7″ frame offers the standard fare, of Bluetooth connectivity plus an SD card slot for displaying photos, otherwise the internal memory can reportedly hold…

LG doesn't want to miss out on any OLED action, announces 32" panel

lg-logo-pic-one.jpg

Quite a lot of OLED news this week, with Samsung and Panasonic joining Sony to the super-thin panel race, and LG calling out after them “wait for me, guysch!” and announcing a massive 32″ screen.

Not much else is known about this mysterious 32″ OLED TV, except that LG’s factory in Paju, Korea, is ramping up the production of the panels, with the words ‘volume production’ being quoted. It looks likely that this 32″ TV is lined up for a 2011 release date, a couple of years after Samsung’s 2009 job. Hopefully…

ASUS announces the bamboo Eco Books will launch in June, to the distress of pandas

asus_bamboo-eco-book.jpg

Those attractive notebooks made from laminated bamboo look set to drop in June, according to a Chinese newspaper.

The reported price is NT$50,000, which converts to a concise $1,651.80, or £832. On the whole, ASUS notebooks tend to be quite affordable, so I would be very surprised if they charge the UK market over £1,000 for it. Their ‘Eco Book’ monikers…
