Twitter to look at your other apps to better target its ads

Twitter is to use the other apps you have downloaded to make its targeted adverts more relevant to you, it has emerged.

According to the Bangkok Post quotes Twitter as saying:

“We are collecting and occasionally updating the list of apps installed on your mobile device so we can deliver tailored content that you might be interested in,”

Apparently the way it works, on both iOS and Android, is simply by taking the names of the apps you have downloaded – so not the content within. In other words, it will know that you also have Facebook installed, but won’t be able to access your friends and messages and so on.

The Post also points out that it’ll be possible to opt-out of this new tracking in the settings section of your phone app.
