MusicStation becomes largest UK unlimited music service

musicstation.jpgWhat, you didn’t catch the headline? Ok, well, the mobile phone unlimited music download service from Omnifone, known as MusicStation, is now bigger than Napster or any other as far as UK subscribers go – not bad seeing as it was only launched 7 months ago.

The £1.99-a-week service, available to Vodafone customers, has even managed to pick up the gong for Best Mobile Internet Service at the industry awards last week and having deals with all four of the majors and 1.8 million tracks at their disposal probably helps.

It doesn’t seem hugely cheap at over £100 each year but that does include all of the data costs, either making Omnifone look very generous or exposing the con that is data costs by mobile service providers. I’m pitching for the latter.
