Facebook lifting 5,000 friend limit is "a fake rumor" according to Loic Le Meur

too-many-facebook-friends.jpgThis is Robert Scoble. He has too many friends on Facebook as you can see. Many others share similar plights – Jason Calacanis, comedian Jimmy Carr, heck – even Yoko Ono.

French blogger-turned web entrepreneur, Loic Le Meur (see my video interview with him here), whilst approaching that 5,000 friend limit fast, has published a post on his personal blog, drenching water all over that fiery hot rumour of recent times, that Facebook was soon to be lifting the 5,000 friend limit, claiming “it was a fake rumor”.

This, according to his ‘friend’ who refused to disclose his name, will be given as an exclusive to Business Week with an official announcement to follow. I can certainly see Zuckerberg’s reasoning behind this, particularly with Scoble’s reports that he “noticed parts of Facebook slowed down for me at about 3,000 friends. Also lots of stuff broke and didn’t work for me”.

Time to view Facebook once again as a tool for staying in touch with friends, and log-in to Linked-In for all your networking purposes?
