Onkyo has unveiled its latest AV amplifier, the TX-SA606X, and the first to implement several other manufacturers’ “one remote” control systems.

Panasonic has the VIERA Link, Sharp has AQUOS, and Toshiba has REGZA Link — all technologies which are supposed to help you control various home cinema equipment with just one remote control.

That’s tended to only work if you buy components from the same manufacturer. Now Onkyo can handle the three proprietary technologies, meaning that if you own an enabled TV or DVD player, you can use the same remote to control the AV receiver, and have it sync together.

For those bothered about more than simply reducing the number of remote controls and button presses, the AV amplifier is HDMI 1.3a compliant, supports Dolby NRs True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio, x.v.Color, and outputs 185W over seven channels.
