After making such a vast loss in the mobile part of its business last year, you might’ve expected Motorola to come out KICKING and possibly SCREAMING at this year’s Mobile World Congress 2008 show. But no.
It revealed the wi-fi-enhanced Z6W, which is an upgraded version of the Z6M. That’s the one on the left.
And the two mobiles on the right – the W161 and W181 – are officially classified as “affordable”. No one wants a phone that’s officially classified as affordable! We want phones that are cutting-edge and unattainable, phones packed with things we won’t ever use – not this sort of featureless thing parents buy for their kids.
Clearly those rumours that Motorola’s looking to offload it’s phone wing are true if this is all it can be bothered to bring to the year’s biggest mobile innovation show.
