Why buy three gadgets if one can do the job? That seems to be the message from Cynett, which has introduced the GrooveTraveller Complete Car Kit – a car FM transmitter, charger and holder for the iPod and iPod nano.
It’s essentially a variation on the iTrip – so if you’ve got one of those, I can’t see this offering great value. And don’t forget, these aren’t strictly legal – though this sort of FM transmitting should be free from restriction by the end of the year. But if you’re still keen, you’ll be interested to know that the GrooveTraveller plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter, then plays music from your iPod through a spare FM frequency, between the transmission range 87.5 – 108.0 MHz. While it’s playing, the GrooveTraveller charges your iPod’s battery and holds it in position within easy reach with an 180 degree adjustable and lockable arm so it won’t slide around your car.
It’s available now, priced around £40. There’s plenty of these devices hitting the market right now, so it’s probably best to shop around before you dive in.
