Nikon doesn’t just make fancy D-SLRs, you know. The P80 has just been announced from the maestros of photography, with features that’ll blow your mind.

With an 18x zoom, the photos I took when trying it several days ago were amazing, you can see some of them below the jump. It features a 10-megapixel sensor, image stabilisation and image-shift Vibration Reduction technology for shaky hands.

The LCD monitor measures 2.7″, and has…

Shiny Video Preview: Kat plays Rock Band for the first time

Yesterday, as promised, I got hands-on with Rock Band. Now, this will be old news for our US readers, but I was so excited, after waiting months and months for a chance.

It has been given a release date here in the UK of May 23rd, with the price looking set to start at £130…just for the instruments. Take a look in the video above to see me trying my hand at each of the instruments, including the microphone.

WARNING: I am extremely tone-deaf and have never done karaoke sober before. Watch at your own risk.

Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder announced in UK, world's smallest and lightest

panasonic-sd9.jpg

The second high-def camcorder announced by Panasonic today in the UK is the HDC-SD9, which also offers a full HD experience with 1920 x 1080p filming.

The main difference between the SD9 and the HS9 I mentioned before is that the SD9 doesn’t contain a hard disk. Instead, recording is made onto an SD or SDHC card. Like the HS9, it is also 3CCD and has the same 10x zoom. Weighing in at 115g, it’s very minuscule in size, yet still packs…

Panasonic announces the full-HD HDC-HS9 camcorder in the UK

hs9-panasonic.jpg

Panasonic today announced four new camcorders in the UK, two to join their high-def range, the other two to languish in the inferior standard definition range. Standard def, bah! Who wants it?

The two full-HD camcorders announced are the HDC-HS9 (pictured above) and HDC-SD9. Offering 1920 x 1080p recording, at 25fps and a 17Mbps bit rate, it features a 60GB hard disk, but you can also record onto SD or SDHC via the card slot. Oh, and did I mention it’s got an impressive 10x optical zoom too? That’s the best part, if you ask me…

mobiles-on-planes.jpg

One of our brother blogs here at Shiny Media, Lost Weekend, has put together a brilliant piece detailing the allowance of mobile phones on planes.

According to the travel site, some airlines such as Ryanair claim they’ll be offering the service as early as summer, with Air France and Emirates offering in-flight calls later in the year. The cost of calls mid-flight are due to be extremely expensive, priced…

The Halo 3 My Little Pony is the best freakin' thing I've seen on the net all week

halo-my-little-pony.jpg

I’m not ashamed to admit I played with My Little Pony toys as a kiddywink, but I also played with LEGO and Scalextric if that redeems me. As you can imagine, this Halo-themed pony has pleased me greatly.

Your daughter/niece/stolen Madeleine McCann might not appreciate being presented with a Master Chief lookalike, but the Custom Pony competition judges over in Kentucky, USA sure did, awarding the designer second place. Created using…
