Skype crash latest: it's all Microsoft's fault! Oh, hang on, it's not.
Okay, it’s not like Bill Gates hired a crack team of ninjas to assault Skype’s secret server bunker for some nefarious purpose. Although I haven’t ruled it out.
No, it seems last week’s Skype outage was caused by a huge synchronised reboot after the latest Windows Update patch.
Skype problems continue with patchy service
Yesterday’s Skype problems appear to have been only partially resolved, according to the company.
They reported that some users in Asia and parts of Europe were able to connect and use the phone service today, but not all.
A moderately optimistic notice posted on their Heartbeat blog said, “even though it is too early to call out anything definite yet we are now seeing signs of improvement in our sign-on performance.”
Skype problems leave users locked out – maybe until tomorrow
So much for the brave new world of VoIP. Anyone who relies on Skype for work (me, for instance) has been left gnashing their teeth this morning, after the service went down and stayed down, bar the odd false dawn.
