Pop some popcorn and settle down to read the top ten Apple movie moments

jurassic-park-mac.jpg

Have you noticed that pretty much any film you watch these days includes a Mac? It’s become as ubiquitous as music leading up to a crescendo when a couple leans in for a kiss. Does the CIA really use Macs? According to Transformers, it does.

Hot Fuzz shows the police using a mid-1990s Mac, Jurassic Park (above) a Macintosh Quadra 700, heck, even in Zoolander Macs get a nice spot of product-placement in that all too infamous scene that caused many of you sleepless nights. The full list is over at Mac|Life, with knowledgeable details on each of the models the ten listed films…

Take your pick from the Electrolux ZSH730, ZSH720 or ZSH710 vacuum cleaners

orange-electrolux.jpg

It’s a vacuum cleaner, granted, but doesn’t everyone need one? Particularly a bright orange model like the ZSH730, from Electrolux.

With a 2000W motor, hard floor nozzle and 1.7L capacity dust container, you shouldn’t have any problems concerning performance here. That particular model is £79.99, but if you’re looking for something slightly cheaper (and blue), the ZSH720 is only £69.99 and has a slightly lower 1900W motor. Both this…

Yo! Sushi is now offering Cooking Mama 2 amongst the raw fish on conveyor belts

cooking-mama-2-pic.jpg

Normally PR stunts leave a sour taste in my mouth, but whoever is behind the marketing of Cooking Mama 2 on the DS has given me a favourable wasabe flavour.

Why wasabe? Well, Publisher 505 Games has collaborated with British sushi chain Yo! Sushi and from the 14th of April will put DS consoles with the Cooking Mama 2 game (released back in February) on the sushi conveyor belts for customers to have a play whilst they munch on Futomaki. It all starts at…

Wanting a slim compact camera? Nikon's S52 and S52c should do the trick

nikon-s52-1(2).jpg

In addition to the P80 I just mentioned, Nikon has also designed the S52 and S52c compact cameras.

Shown above, the S52 will be available in plum black or silver, and features a 9.0-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom with a NIKKOR lens, and extremely high ISO of 3,200. Yes, I said 3,200. With its contoured body and periscoped lens, it’s very pocket-friendly yet still manages a 3″ LCD screen….

Nikon whacks an 18x zoom on the P80 and impresses hugely

nikon-p80.jpg

Nikon doesn’t just make fancy D-SLRs, you know. The P80 has just been announced from the maestros of photography, with features that’ll blow your mind.

With an 18x zoom, the photos I took when trying it several days ago were amazing, you can see some of them below the jump. It features a 10-megapixel sensor, image stabilisation and image-shift Vibration Reduction technology for shaky hands.

The LCD monitor measures 2.7″, and has…

Shiny Video Preview: Kat plays Rock Band for the first time

Yesterday, as promised, I got hands-on with Rock Band. Now, this will be old news for our US readers, but I was so excited, after waiting months and months for a chance.

It has been given a release date here in the UK of May 23rd, with the price looking set to start at £130…just for the instruments. Take a look in the video above to see me trying my hand at each of the instruments, including the microphone.

WARNING: I am extremely tone-deaf and have never done karaoke sober before. Watch at your own risk.

Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder announced in UK, world's smallest and lightest

panasonic-sd9.jpg

The second high-def camcorder announced by Panasonic today in the UK is the HDC-SD9, which also offers a full HD experience with 1920 x 1080p filming.

The main difference between the SD9 and the HS9 I mentioned before is that the SD9 doesn’t contain a hard disk. Instead, recording is made onto an SD or SDHC card. Like the HS9, it is also 3CCD and has the same 10x zoom. Weighing in at 115g, it’s very minuscule in size, yet still packs…

Panasonic announces the full-HD HDC-HS9 camcorder in the UK

hs9-panasonic.jpg

Panasonic today announced four new camcorders in the UK, two to join their high-def range, the other two to languish in the inferior standard definition range. Standard def, bah! Who wants it?

The two full-HD camcorders announced are the HDC-HS9 (pictured above) and HDC-SD9. Offering 1920 x 1080p recording, at 25fps and a 17Mbps bit rate, it features a 60GB hard disk, but you can also record onto SD or SDHC via the card slot. Oh, and did I mention it’s got an impressive 10x optical zoom too? That’s the best part, if you ask me…
