What’s the best 7″ tablet? Two of the most popular options are the iPad Mini 3 and Samsung’s 7-incher, the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0. But which is best?
The Mini 3 has a 7.9″ screen, which runs at 2048×1536 – meaning a pixels-per-inch (PPI) of 326.
The Tab 4 7.0 has a 7.0″ screen, which runs at 1280×700 – at 216ppi.
The Tab 4 has a Marvell PXA1088 chipset at a Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor. It has 1.5GB of RAM. Meanwhile the iPad Mini 3 has Apple’s 64-bit A7 chip, which has two cores at 1.3ghz, with only 1GB of RAM.
The Tab 4 has a 3.15MP camera on the rear, and a 1.3MP on the front – compared to the Mini 3’s 5MP on the rear and 1.2MP on the front. So neither are amazing – but will do the job.
Both tablets claim you’ll get “up to 10 hours” of use out of them before a charge.
The iPad Mini 3 starts at £319 for a wifi-only 16GB version, and goes up to £399 for the 64GB version. The Tab 4 can be picked up for as little as £124.99 – but that’s only for the 8GB version.
