apps-logo.pngApple’s world-beating iPad tablet now has over 100,000 apps designed specifically for it, ready to be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

It’s taken just three short months to jump up 25,000 apps from the 75,000 app landmark back in March, and just 14 months overall since the iPad’s launch to hit the 100K mark.

This is without taking into account the ridiculous amount of apps designed for iPhones and iPods that can also be scaled to fit the iPad’s larger screen.

25 million iPads and iPad 2s have been sold so far, with a further 14 million expected to sell over the course of the summer. It seems there has never been a more lucrative time to be an iOS tablet app developer.

  • In the last several years, Apple has held media events in March or April in order to preview the next major version of iOS. In 2010, Apple introduced the iPad at an event in late January, but the device wasn’t available to the public until early April.
