DC Universe Online, the long-awaited comic-book MMORPG, has finally been given a concrete release date. PS3 and PC owners will be able to get their hands on it simultaneously, as it launches on January 14th of next year.
The first MMO to hit Sony’s console, and the first MMO ever set in the world of Batman and Superman, it’ll be a persistant world in which players can create their own superheroes or supervillains to battle it out alongside the likes of the Joker or Wonder Woman.
“Creating DC Universe Online has been a massive undertaking, and we’re excited to be that much closer to launch,” said Christopher Cao, Game Director of DCUO for Sony Online Entertainment. “We’re grateful to our beta players for providing us invaluable feedback in these final stages that have enabled us to put the finishing touches on a fun and exciting experience when the game launches in January.”
As is the norm with many high-profile MMO titles, a monthly subscription fee will be required to play.
We’re currently chasing up some preview code of the game, and will give you a full-lowdown on what to expect once we get hold of it.
