Android OS to Over Take iOS

A few weeks ago I ditched my iPhone for an Android phone and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Since then it seems everyone has been asking me if it is comparable? My response – absolutely.

Interestingly, it seems that I am not the only one who feels this way. Recent OS stats reveal that the Android OS is starting to pull ahead of the iOS. Of the top 30 mobile devices, iOS does still outnumber Android devices, but it is by a very slim margin. However, if you ignore tablets and MP3 players, Android clearly has a larger share of that list.

Mobile ad data also appears to back this up. Millennial Media’s data shows that iOS and Android devices tied for total number of impressions in November, each capturing exactly 38% of the month’s mobile impressions.

For me personally it was the improvement of Android devices and their app store, that convinced me to make the switch. Could this be influencing other consumers as well? Regardless it seems that Android devices are making some head way in the very competitive smartphone market.
