Microsoft have decided not to continue pushing their “social” handsets, the Kin One and Kin Two.

“Microsoft has made the decision to focus on the Windows Phone 7 launch and will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones,” Microsoft said in a statement.

No concrete reasons are given for Microsoft’s decision, but you can bet your bottom dollar that poor US sales haven’t helped. And that’s not for want of a marketing push either; it was just April when Microsoft launched the range with a series of high-profile events.

While the handsets are still available from Verizon in the US, it now seems that the previously planned Vodafone UK exclusive deal for the phones won’t see the light of day.
