Apple's flagship NYC store shuts last night, with iPhone commercial being filmed?

I saw on Boy Genius Report earlier that they’d received an email from an Apple employee/tipster alerting them that the 5th Avenue ‘glass cube’ NYC store would be shutting for several hours yesterday, as they were stocking the shelves with 3G iPhones.

Now, like Boy Genius, I didn’t pay too much attention to the rumour, until I saw Pop17’s Sarah Austin tweet that people were filming down at the store. After a little investigating, it appears they were indeed shooting a commercial at the flagship store, around midnight East Coast time. Loose-lipped employees were apparently telling passerbys that they were shooting an advert, hence the store closure. Very strange for a 24-hour store, which has only been closed twice previously, when the original iPhone launched, and for the Leopard launch.

Looks like we’ll be seeing a new body-less hand-model on our screens shortly.
