Dell is challenging the perception that a notebook PC doesn’t perform as well as a desktop PC, particularly on processor intensive tasks, with the launch of its Precision M6300 mobile workstation.

Aimed at engineers, artists, developers, and other professionals who need to run business-critical applications, it features the latest Intel Core 2 Duo or Extreme processors up to the 2.8GHz X7900, an NVIDIA Quadro FX1600M OpenGL GPU that claims to provide a 70% performance improvement in graphics performance over Dell’s Precision M90, up to 4GB of dual-channel memory, high performance hard drives, and high resolution 17-inch widescreen displays, plus 802.11n wireless support.

Prices start at £1,309 (excluding VAT) and the Precision M6300 is available now.
