Nokia and Vodafone have partnered with SonyBMG to offer consumers an exclusive version of Groove Armada’s forthcoming album Soundboy Rocks.

From 5th May, anyone buying a Nokia N76 in a Vodafone store will get a ‘credit card’ and PIN, allowing them to download exclusive content from the band’s website.

Customers upgrading to the handset will also be offered the deal.

Last year, Nokia teamed up with Jamiroquai, releasing their Greatest Hits album on Nokia Nseries devices before it went on general sale.

Nokia will sponsor the Groove Armada album launch party tonight at the Hammersmith Palais, before the album is released on Monday.

Whether you can choose from Groove Armada or Travis – a deal done just a week or so ago, isn’t clear.

Executives involved gave the following marketing spin:

“It’s great to be pioneering with Nokia again and seeing them integrate themselves even deeper into an artist campaign. Creating opportunities for consumers to download music through non-traditional retail channels is a huge priority for us and ‘Soundboy Rocks’ is such a great album for this project,” said Alex Vlassopulos, Business Development Manager, Sony BMG UK.

“We’re delighted to continue our relationship with Sony BMG UK and bring music fans closer to the music they love through our devices. Nokia’s Nseries devices offer unparalleled multimedia experiences not available on traditional mobile telephones so they are the perfect devices for enjoying the songs offered via this exclusive partnership,” said Andrew Connell, Director of Multimedia at Nokia.
