channel4.gifOn Wednesday, Channel 4 is to submit its application to launch an on-demand digital radio service which will include a range of content from business news to children’s shows and audio books.

Digital radios and mobile phones able to receive the signal will gain access to half-a-dozen channels from which listeners can choose programmes. They will also be able to buy and store shows and songs which can then be transferred to a PC or MP3 player.

The service will also include live radio stations, with content coming from a number of broadcasters including Channel 4, UTV, and SMG, as well as the likes of Disney, Penguin and the Financial Times.

The licence will be awarded by Ofcom this summer.
