Exercise is a good thing – and cycling is particularly good for your overall wellbeing and your joints. But every now and again, especially after a long cycle, there’s bound to be one hill too far. That’s when you need a bike like the UrbanMover UM36.

The benefits are obvious – it offers all the features you would expect to find on a regular mountain bike, but with the added benefit of electric power when it all gets too much. In fact, it could give you a boost if you’re late too, with speeds up to 15mph using the electric motor. And of course, cycling is environmentally friendly compared to a car or scooter commute.

The bike weighs 22.6kg, consisting of an all alloy frame, alloy wheels and a Shimano 6-speed gear system. The lightweight Nickel metal hydride battery pack is hidden behind the frame, so no-one will know you’ve got that extra boost. It charges up in just four hours and a full charge will provide electric power for distances of 18 miles, which you can obviously pad out with some pedalling. There’s also a charge indicator on both the handlebars and the battery to show how much remaining power the bike has left.

The UM36 costs around £750 and is available

from now from UK cycle retailers.
