Apple to launch new iPod and MacBook next week?

The rumour mill is certainly going into overdrive regarding new products from Apple. The rumour of a new MacBook for this week proved unfounded, but there are signs that this week it could appear – alongside a red iPod.

The day is again Tuesday, with various rumours claiming Apple was forced to put back the announcement of its new Intel-based MacBook because of insufficient stock for a launch. Separate stories suggest that the announcement of a coloured MacBook, possibly similar to the customised one pictured, will be accompanied by new red iPods.

Stories about the latter seem to stem from comments by U2 singer Bono, after he called on famous brands to offer red versions of their products in order to publicise the African AIDS crisis. Next Tuesday, the day flagged up for the product launches, Bono will be guest-editing the Independent newspaper, which is going red to mark the occasion – the colour of Bono’s charity, Product Red.

Will it happen? You’ll find out here as soon as any news breaks.
