Panasonic has toughened up its Toughbook range, introducing the CF-74, which the company claims offers protection against drops, liquid spills and falling objects.

The CF-74 comes equipped with a new 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Processor, 512MB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. It also features a 13.3 inch screenwith an extra anti-reflex coating for better readability out and about. There’s also a DVD burner, 2x USB and an SD slot. The wireless features have also been maximised, with integrated WLAN, GPRS/EDGE and Bluetooth – three different wireless options can be used simultaneously.  An optional integrated GPRS/EDGE module means the PCMCIA/express card slot stays freely configurable.

Its "toughness" means the hard drive is protected against shocks and vibrations – the CF-74 is designed to withstand falls from a height of up to 30cm. With a decent battery life of up to eight hours, the CF-74 is available this month for around £2089.00 ex VAT
